Absolutely, it was my first time seeing them and they really took me by surprise!

I had never heard one in action before but I am definitely onboard after this :)

The thing with the turbocharged cars is that the sheer volume doesn’t really come across on camera. In real life the car was very loud, dwarfing the other cars, even the naturally aspirated V8’s and V10’s. Of course your examples are louder (I have experienced similar cars and indeed they require some serious ear protection), but that doesn’t take away from the fact that this car was still really rather (surprisingly) loud in the flesh

@@AlwinSV That is very true for any race car in my experience, both sound and speed is impossible to capture 😄I'm looking forward to hearing this car at Le Mans this summer, it really looks good (minus the wide square hips)

Haha I think the aggressive aero additions look really cool although yes, the lines in the rear are now a little squared off. And nice! I hope you’ll enjoy seeing the cars and I wonder how you’ll rate the sound having heard it in the flesh :)

Yeah finally seeing Grello in the flesh was awesome. The Mercs do sound amazing with their N/A V8's but the turbocharged Astons being louder than the Mercs really blew my mind

I am not sure but even in its normal race configuration at big events without noise limits it sounds the same so I imagine it wouldn’t need a muffler for trackdays since it’s pretty quiet.

Oh yeah, absolutely!

Yeah they are very quiet for GT3 standards but in the flesh the sound is really not too bad. You could still hear them from across the entire track but microphones (especially in the strong wind of that particular day) will struggle to do them justice. Still, what I wouldn’t give for them to go back to naturally aspirated open exhaust race cars 😅

Fair point although to me those figures in the street cars are still quite impressive. Then again, the 2.0L 4-cylinder turbo engines from the last real DTM cars also produced 600 horsepower which is even more mind-blowing. Granted they didn't need to last as long as GT3 cars driving endurance races.

The only difference from the race engine to the street version is literally the oil supply. The engine block is not opened up at all, which is quite unique in the GT3 world.

@@AlwinSV Yeah, it's too bad those 2.0L's were DTM-exclusive, as far as I know (I could be wrong). A street version of them would've been epic. Maybe not with the same 600 hp, but some 500 hp, for a bit more longevity. And it wouldn't be impossible, so many 2.0-powered cars out there reach such levels of performance, some of the quite easily...

@@Roddy_Zeh I'd love to have that engine in a road car, especially if you can replicate the sound of the late DTM's. From outside they were pretty quiet but onboard the car the sound was fantastic.

@@AlwinSV Those 2.0's were powerful, but being very honest, I miss the DTM's golden era, like late 80's until early/mid 00's. Those 4-cylinders (BMW/Merc) and V6's (Alfa Romeo/Opel) screaming past 11,000 rpm, pure and unfiltered N/A melody...🥵

I think the latter. The engine was developed by KMS Racing Engines and the only Ford V6 work of theirs I can find is on the 3.7L Mustang engine. The horsepower figure also matches that particular engine so my guess would be it's the Cyclone 3.7 stroked to 4.0

@@AlwinSV If so, that's the first time I see the Cyclone/Duratec reaching 4.0L, I honestly didn't know they could reach such displacement. Depending on the new crankshaft, the rods could hit the block internally, forcing them to chop some edges and other areas to accomodate the larger stroke crankshaft and new rods without facing these risks. And normally larger bore pistons also can make the cylinder block's walls too thin as well, weakening them. Or, but I guess that may not be the case because the costs would be much, much higher, they went with a billet block already designed to accomodate larger bores and strokes without any clearance issues.

@@Roddy_Zeh All very valid concerns. Based of the ad and snooping around the KMS website I figured the Cyclone 3.7 would be the one and when looking up that particular engine I found ''Notable Cyclone features include a capacity for displacements ranging up to 4.0 L'' which to me made it all make sense. There is of course the possibility it's not completely correct on the ad or it could be the older engine and KMS might not work on it anymore so it wouldn't show on their site. Unfortunately we will not know for sure but if I get to see this car again I will certainly ask :)

When filming multiple series at an event it can be hard to be in the right place at the right time for pit action of all the cars I’m trying to cover but it’s definitely something I’m looking to improve upon. Thank you for the kind words and feedback :)

@@AlwinSV Imho if they wanna prioritize for the sport mode the least they can do is find as many LMPs, GTs and Touring Cars as possible and add them to the game. Just like in GT4 with the JGTC models. Total Immersion... Also I love this car cause of the unique spoiler and rear view. So awesome its been kept alive and well!!

@@FonikosGazmas The car lists from the golden era of Gran Turismo were something else yeah. So many awesome motorsport legends you had barely heard of before playing the games. And yeah this Tiga has an awesome, sleek design and I love the exhaust setup too. I'm so happy to see these all these legends coming out to race during the big events!

I used to drive this thing in Raceroom a lot as well. They really nailed the sound in that sim :)

Same for me really. The only ones that came after that I like visually are the DTM cars. In terms of sound though I don’t think anything recent from BMW will beat this one :)
